4mm lip seal – find a replacement here

Like many sealing strips, a lip seal is simply exposed to constant contact with water – in a shower or a glass-enclosed shower, this can even happen several times a day. Depending on the quality of the tap water, its limescale content is a major issue.

In this case, constant contact with limescale in the shower cannot be avoided, but overall it ensures that the lip seal will certainly become porous or corroded more quickly. You can find a replacement in our online shop at www.duschdichtungsprofile.de. We stock the 4mm lip seal in our range.

For which showers is a sliding lip seal suitable for 4 mm thick glass?

A lip seal designed for 4 mm thick glass is suitable for glass shower enclosures with correspondingly thin glass panels. It is fitted to the bottom edge of the shower door and seals the gap between the glass door and the shower tray or floor. This prevents water from splashing out of the shower cubicle.

Can I use a lip seal designed for 4 mm glass on 5 mm thick glass?

Yes, provided that the seal profile in question is specifically designed for glass thicknesses of 4–5 mm. Many of our sliding lip seals are suitable for both glass thicknesses. Please check the product specifications before purchasing to ensure that the seal sits securely on the edge of the glass and provides a reliable seal.

How do I measure the correct lip seal for my glass shower enclosure?

First, measure the thickness of your shower door’s glass and then the distance between the bottom edge of the glass and the shower floor or shower tray. You should also determine the required length of the seal profile. Using these measurements and the technical drawings, you can select a suitable lip seal.

Can I replace a lip seal for 4 mm glass myself?

Yes, replacing a sliding lip seal is usually straightforward. First, remove the old seal and clean the edge of the glass thoroughly. Then cut the new seal to the required length and carefully slide it onto the shower door. Make sure that the flexible sealing lip is correctly aligned with the floor.

Is a lip seal designed for 4 mm glass also suitable for round showers?

Straight lip seals are not normally suitable for curved shower doors. For round and quarter-circle showers, specially pre-curved seal profiles are required that follow the shape of the glass panel. You should therefore check before ordering whether the seal is designed for straight or curved glass doors.
