Lip seal 6–8 mm
Sliding lip seal 6–8 mm – water-repellent profiles for shower doors
Shower seal profiles and 6–8 mm scraper seals serve an important purpose – they are designed to prevent water from leaking out of the shower whilst you are showering. Depending on the water hardness and the use of cleaning products that may be too harsh, it may become necessary to replace the scraper seals. The transparent plastic profile cannot withstand prolonged exposure to aggressive cleaning products, which may even contain chlorine, or to abrasive cleaners and solvents. A 6–8 mm scraper seal is best cleaned with lukewarm water and a soft microfibre cloth. However, should you ever need a replacement, you can find one in our online shop at www.duschdichtungsprofile.de.
Replacing a lip seal
Finding a 6–8 mm sliding lip seal and replacing it is no problem at all thanks to our online service. You can find the seals either by referring to the existing shape of the shower or by the position of the sliding lip seal. A third option is to search for the shower seal using the configurator – this involves a total of four steps leading up to the order. The configurator can, of course, also be used for other shower profiles. First, you select the shape of the shower enclosure, then the door shape, and in the third step, the shower solution. Finally, as the fourth step, you select the suggested seal profile and complete the order online.
Transparent Design
A 6–8 mm lip seal is a shower lip designed for the bottom edge of a glass door. It prevents water from leaking out at this point whilst showering. This type of lip seal seals the gap between the glass door and the shower tray or the floor, in the case of a walk-in shower. These shower profiles are made from transparent plastic and therefore blend in perfectly with a wide variety of designs. They are unobtrusive, making them an excellent choice for a wide range of showers.
Care products and accessories for all-glass showers and sliding lip seals
An all-glass shower enclosure is still a real eye-catcher in your bathroom. If you look after it properly, you’ll enjoy it for many years to come. This naturally applies to a 6–8 mm sliding lip seal as well. As a rule, it’s enough to wipe it down with a soft cloth and lukewarm water. Should the need ever arise, you’ll find the right care products in our online shop at www.duschdichtungsprofile.de. We also have a selection of accessories for our customers here.
For which showers is a 6–8 mm sliding lip seal suitable?
A lip seal for 6–8 mm thick glass is suitable for all-glass showers with glass doors of the corresponding thickness. It is fitted to the bottom edge of the shower door and seals the gap between the glass and the shower tray or floor. It thus provides reliable splash protection and prevents water from splashing out of the shower.
Can I use the same lip seal for 6 mm and 8 mm glass?
Yes, provided that the seal profile is specifically designed for glass thicknesses of 6–8 mm. Many of our sliding lip seals are suitable for both glass thicknesses. Before purchasing, please check the product specifications and ensure you select the correct lip length so that the profile sits securely on the edge of the glass and reliably seals the gap.
What sort of brush seal do I need if there’s a larger gap at the bottom of the shower door?
If there is a larger gap between the shower door and the floor, a sliding lip seal with a longer sealing lip is recommended. For glass thicknesses of 6–8 mm, various designs are available with sealing lips of different lengths, some of which can be trimmed to size. Measure the existing gap before ordering to select the correct shower seal.
Are there any sliding lip seals for 6–8 mm glass that are also suitable for round showers?
Yes, special pre-curved lip seals are available for circular and quarter-circle showers. Conventional straight seal profiles are not normally suitable for curved glass doors. When making your selection, therefore, please ensure that the profile is compatible with the shape of your shower enclosure and with glass thicknesses of 6–8 mm.
How do I clean and maintain a lip seal for 6–8 mm glass?
Clean your lip seal regularly with lukewarm water and a soft microfibre cloth. This will gently remove limescale, soap residue and dirt. Avoid harsh, chlorine-based cleaning products, as well as abrasive cleaners and solvents, as these can damage the plastic. Regular care helps to extend the seal’s service life.
