What causes problems with a shower profile
A shower profile – including those fitted to the bottom of glass doors or the profiles attached at the base – is subject to various conditions. For one thing, the profiles are constantly exposed to water; particularly in a family with several members, there are many showers taken every day. In areas with hard water, this is the reason why shower profiles suffer damage much more quickly and usually become porous. As a result, they can no longer fulfil their original function of keeping the water inside the shower. This is a nuisance for you, as the shower water may end up spreading across the bathroom floor, making it extremely slippery. Add shampoo and shower gel to the mix – and the shower channel is no longer fit for purpose.

Which shower profile is suitable for the floor?
The choice of shower profile suitable for the floor depends on the installation situation, the thickness of the glass and the gap to be sealed. Floor profiles or sealing profiles are often fitted to the bottom edge of a glass door to keep water from spilling out of the shower area.
How do I find the right floor profile for my shower?
First, measure the thickness of the glass, the required length of the profile and the gap between the glass door and the floor or shower tray. These measurements will help you to choose a profile that fits securely and seals the existing gap as effectively as possible.
Can I fit a shower channel to the floor myself?
Many shower profiles can be fitted by yourself with minimal effort. Depending on the design, the profile is either slid onto the edge of the glass, clipped into place or fixed to the floor. It is important to take into account the installation situation and the fitting instructions for the specific profile.
Can a floor-mounted shower channel be cut to size?
Many profiles can be cut to the required length. Measure carefully before cutting and use a suitable tool to ensure a clean, straight cut.
When should a shower threshold be replaced?
It is advisable to replace the profile if it is damaged, brittle, discoloured or no longer seals properly. If water regularly leaks out from under the shower door, you should also check whether the existing floor profile is still fitted correctly or needs replacing.
