A 10 mm lip seal – for sealing your shower

You can order a 10 mm or 10 to 12 mm lip seal from Duschdichtungsprofile.de on request. A lip seal is a sealing strip for the shower – or, more precisely, for the shower door of an all-glass shower. These 10 mm lip seals are suitable for glass doors with a glass thickness of 10 to 12 mm and ensure that the water stays in the shower – and not in the bathroom. Unfortunately, even a lip seal will need replacing at some point, as limescale, cleaning products and the wear and tear of time can take a real toll on these seals. At www.duschdichtungesprofile.de, you’ll find lip seals in a wide variety of sizes. Please feel free to contact us regarding lip seals for 10 to 12 mm glass.

✔ Please note: Check whether these seals are intended for use in quarter-circle or circular showers. For these, you’ll need pre-bent profiles. You’ll find these in our range too.

What is a 10 mm lip seal used for?

A sliding lip seal with a 10 mm sealing lip is designed to seal the gap between a shower door and the shower floor or shower tray. The flexible sealing lip keeps splash water inside the shower cubicle as far as possible and provides reliable protection against water splashing out. It is essential that the profile matches the thickness of the glass and the size of the gap.

What gap width can a 10 mm lip seal seal?

The possible gap width depends on the shape and design of the sealing lip, as well as its installation position. A 10 mm-long sealing lip does not automatically mean that any 10 mm gap can be reliably sealed. You should therefore measure the distance between the shower door and the floor and compare it with the technical specifications of the relevant sealing profile.

What glass thickness is a 10 mm grinding lip seal suitable for?

The specification ‘10 mm’ may refer to the length of the sealing lip or to the glass thickness. It is important to distinguish between these two measurements when selecting a product. Many scraper seals are available for glass thicknesses of 4–5 mm or 6–8 mm. You should therefore check, before purchasing, which glass thickness the desired profile is actually designed for.

Can I fit a 10 mm mechanical seal myself?

Yes, many sliding lip seals can easily be replaced by yourself. First, remove the old seal and clean the edge of the glass thoroughly. Then cut the new seal to the required length and carefully fit it onto the shower door. Make sure that the sealing lip is correctly aligned with the shower floor.

When should I replace the weatherstrip on my shower door?

A sliding lip seal should be replaced if the sealing lip is porous, torn or permanently deformed. Even if water regularly gets onto the bathroom floor despite the shower door being closed, a damaged or ill-fitting seal may be the cause. The splash protection can be restored by fitting a suitable replacement profile.
