Reliable splash protection with sliding lip seals

Sliding lip seals act as sealing strips and provide reliable splash protection for the doors of an all-glass shower. They seal the gap between the glass door and the shower tray, whilst blending discreetly into the modern look of your shower. Our sliding lip seals are available in various designs and for different glass thicknesses ranging from 4 to 8 mm.

Finding the right lip seal

To ensure your shower is reliably sealed against splashes and moisture, it is essential to choose the right shower seal. The key factors are, in particular, the correct glass thickness, the gap width, the type of shower door and the desired design of the sliding lip seal. To find the right sliding lip seal for your all-glass shower, you must first determine the glass thickness. Depending on the shower door, this can be, for example, 4, 5, 6 or 8 mm. The seal must match the respective glass thickness so that the profile sits correctly and securely on the edge of the glass.

The gap measurement refers to the distance between the bottom edge of the shower door and the floor or the shower tray. This measurement should also be determined precisely before purchase. A sealing lip that matches the gap measurement ensures that the gap is reliably sealed and that as little water or moisture as possible escapes from the shower area.

Depending on the shape of the shower door, a different type of lip seal is required. For straight glass panels, a straight lip seal is generally used. For round showers or curved glass panels, however, a pre-curved lip seal is required, which is adapted to the shape of the shower door.

Finally, when selecting the correct shower seal for the bottom edge, the choice depends on the required design. Depending on the installation situation, you can choose between a standard, long or cut-to-size sealing lip. In addition, there are sliding lip seals with a hollow chamber. The hollow chamber provides an additional flexible sealing area, thereby ensuring a reliable seal in suitable installation situations.

What sort of lip seal do I need for my shower?

The choice of the correct sliding lip seal depends primarily on the thickness of the glass, the gap between the shower door and the floor or shower tray, and the shape of the shower door. For curved glass panels, for example, a pre-curved sliding lip seal is required.

How do I measure the gap for a shower seal?

Measure the distance between the bottom edge of the glass door and the floor or shower tray. Using this gap measurement, you can select a sealing lip that will reliably bridge the gap.

What glass thickness do I need for a grinding lip seal?

The seal must match the actual thickness of your shower door’s glass. Depending on the shower, for example, glass panes 4, 5, 6 or 8 mm thick may be fitted. You should therefore measure the glass thickness as accurately as possible before purchasing.

When should a lip seal be replaced?

It is advisable to replace the seal if the sealing lip is porous, torn or misshapen, no longer fits the glass properly, or water is leaking from under the shower door. Severe discolouration may also be a reason for replacement.

What sort of lip seal do I need for a round shower?

Pre-curved lip seals are generally required for round showers and curved glass doors. In addition to the correct curvature, the glass thickness and the existing gap dimension are also crucial.
